No fewer than 14 persons have been arrested by men of the Ondo State Police Command for various criminal offences, including murder, armed robbery and rape.

Parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Akure, the state capital, on Monday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Bolaji Salami, said the suspects were arrested between February and March this year.

He identified them as Isaac Monday, Ajilogba Wande, Omisakin Samson, Abiodun Osuntimehin, Rasheed Oke, Abiwo Gbemiteke and Martins Aliu.

Others are Oluremi Olubunmi, Nathaniel Henejer, Abiwo Gbemiteke, Gbenro Adetuyi, Jimoh Blessing, Dennis Okoh and Sunday Asaba.

Salami said, “Looking at our record of activities within the period under review, the Ondo State Police Command has performed much better compared to what is happening in some other states across the country.

“Within this same period, we have reduced the spate of kidnapping and banditry that seem to be the hallmark of some states.

“I can as well tell you that perpetrators of armed robbery and other heinous crimes that made their way into the state are regretting taking such futile and near-deadly adventures. My policemen and our synergy with relevant security agencies in the state have reduced them and their ambitions to nothingness.”
