The ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC), has released a new list of its Presidential Campaign Council (PPC). In addition, Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s National Chairman, is made the deputy of the President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari.

Remember that the 422-man committee list, which was announced previously, compromising important members and political heavyweights to take charge of the sub-committees of the campaign council, caused confusion. Some notable members of the party also frowned at it.

However, there are high factors and confirmations that the National Working Committee, which Adamu led, which is also of the ruling APC, made inroads into the campaign council of the party.

The list was released on Wednesday, 19th October 2022 and signed by Senator Iyiola Omisore, the party’s National Secretary. This new list made the president, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, be retained as the council’s chairman. Also, the presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was named the deputy chairman ll in the 422-member list.

Exchanging positions with Tinubu, Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman, becomes Buhari’s deputy while Tinubu’s running mate, Kashim Shettima, is retained as the council’s vice chairman. Simon Lalong, the governor of Plateau State, remains the Director General; James Faleke as secretary; and Comrade Adams Oshiomole as Deputy Director-General.

Apart from the listed positions (which were 603 in number), there is the possibility that the council’s membership will increase to a thousand and above as a special group has been created by the party to accommodate some stakeholders. The special group is known as Presidential Campaign Council Members.

The stakeholders in the group include all the members of APC NWC, their national assembly members, all APC former governors and their deputies, all serving members of the NEC (National Executive Committee), the members of the federal executive council, all former members of APC NWC, serving speakers and their deputies, national and state assembly candidates, principal officers of state assemblies, state chairmen, and former speakers of state assemblies. These are all from APC.

The party’s NWC opposed the list which Tinubu had earlier released. Greater inclusion is sought after, also a development which caused the council to withdraw the list.

All Progressive Congress, the ruling party, will unveil the presidential candidate’s (Bola Ahmed Tinubu) manifesto on Friday, 21st October 2022.

The President will do the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council to begin the party’s campaign formally.
