The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ondo State Chapter have thrown weight behind the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, over his order asking all herders to vacate forest reserves in the state within seven days.

The Chairman CAN, Ondo State Chapter, Rev. Ayo Oladapo stated this in an interview with news reporters on Wednesday at the annual prayer summit organized by the association.

Oladapo stated that the Governor was exercising his constitutional responsibility in protecting his citizens and any “sane” organization would support him.

He said, “Almost every day we have records of people being attacked from one community or the other, we have people being kidnapped here and there and it’s the constitutional responsibility of the governor to see that the state is secured.

“Findings have revealed that there are some people inhabiting our forests and they are the major one perpetrating this evil, so the governor has acted rightly in exercising his constitutional responsibility.

“We see this as defending the defenseless, we see this as him protecting the people of the state and when we see a government behaving and acting rightly, a sane person or organization must definitely back up such action or pronouncement. And since the government has said That there should not be night grazing child directive grazing, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is supporting the directive of the government”, He concluded.
