A day after the demise of Oba Saliu Adetunji, the Olubadan of Ibadan, a former attorney-general of Oyo State, Chief Michael Lana, has said Chief Lekan Balogun, a former senator, is not fit to be crowned as the next Olubadan.

The last Olubadan died at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, in the early hours of Sunday. Balogun, currently the Otun Olubadan, is expected to ascend the throne.

But in a letter dated January 3, 2022 and addressed to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, the former AG said installing Balogun as king will amount to an “aberration and illegality”.

The lawyer said Balogun, some high chiefs and Baales were illegally conferred with their titles by Abiola Ajimobi, former Oyo governor.
