The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, the 10th of October 2022, a public holiday. This was declared to observe this year’s celebration of the birth of Prophet Mohammed (SAW), known as Eid-el Maulud.

The Federal Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, in a statement signed by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, congratulated all Muslims on behalf of the Federal Government for seeing a new year again.

Aregbesola urged all believers in Nigeria to wear the garment of love, seeking the peace of the country and not war. He, also, mentioned that everyone should ensure that they exhibit the character of the prophet Muhammad while he was on earth, as this would not only lead to the progress of the nation but an all-around peace across the nation. Furthermore, he urged that all Nigerians should desist from all forms of violent activities as this does not portray the character of who they would be celebrating on that day.

Moreover, he added that leaders of all races and colors should show themselves worthy of that position; ensuring that the welfare of their followers is their great concern.

He, further, added that all security officers across the nation should ensure security in all nooks and crannies of the nation, as God would be helping them. Not only the security officers, but all citizens, should be security conscious. He emphasized that any suspicious movement around must be reported immediately to any security agencies close by, as this would prevent danger.

In conclusion, he wished all Muslims a happy celebration.
