The Ondo State Government has warned against illegal possession and sale of its farmland by unauthorized owners.

While speaking in his office, the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Sunday Akintomide, dished out the warning.

Listing out the affected areas, he said that some of the government’s farmlands that had been invaded are: Mariwo Farm Settlement in the Ifedore Local Government Area, Onisere Farm Settlement in the Idanre LGA, Ile Oluji Farm Settlement in Ile- Oluji/Okeagbe LGA and Okitipupa Farm Settlement in the Okitipupa LGA.

Akintomide highlighted the fact that the government was aware that a couple of unauthorised people had been vending government farmland to individual and groups of people  oblivious that the acres belonged to the government.

The minister said, “Those who intend to buy land should confirm the authenticity of the land from the state Ministry of Lands before making payment. All farm settlements in the state are for farming and the government is not willing to sell them.”
