Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu says he was ready for another big move after a wonderful performance in the Jupiter Pro League last season, but the towering striker was disappointed when no major offer eventually came.
Onuachu was named the Belgian Professional Footballer of The Year, after winning the Ebony Shoe last season for his performance for the Blue-White.
The striker has put in some nice performance for the club this season, scoring 11 goals for John van den Brom’s side in all competitions.
Genk’s asking price of €20m for the striker reportedly put off several top clubs from making a move for the player, which confined him to the Belgian topflight for another season.
“It was one of the most difficult periods of my life. All that stress… I felt ready for the big step, but no offer came,”
“Was something going on behind my back? Was it the amount Genk had put on me? Honestly, I don’t know. Nobody understands. Corona, they tell me. Come on, I don’t believe that! I scored 33 goals: then you’re always gone, aren’t you? Anyway, it doesn’t bother me anymore. I let it go”, Onuachu said in an interview with Voetbalprimeur.
