Abiodun Aleja was a Nigerian movie producer,an actor and movie director. Born April 26th 1971,he attended Orile Owu Grammar School where he obtained his SSCE certificate in 1983. He also worked with National Theater Lagos from 1984 to 2007 and Dudu Production from 1990 to 1998. He is the owner of Compact e Schedulers, a movie production company he started in 2005. Abiodun graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. As an actor, he was popular for his role in Kunle Afolayan’s October 1 hit (2014). Some of his works as a movie producer were; Don’t Live Here Anymore (2018), Sade (2019) and many others. He was a contributor to several Nollywood flicks and worked alongside Tunde Kelani and Kunle Afolayan. Till death, he was a member of the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANATAP). The veteran passed away on the Friday 21st May, 2021. The late actor’s wife broke the news to the chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the National association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP), Makinde Adeniran. Earlier on, the Nollywood icon had an accidental fall at his home and was taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) where he was later admitted after he went into a coma. He was reported to have been revived some days after, but later passed on. Series of tributes to the veteran actor identified him to be a humble, yet brilliant teacher to those willing to learn. A Twitter user recounts how the actor had helped him to perfect his script writing skills. One of his wife’s relative, Beatrice Alao has this to say,” GONE SO SOON YOU FOUGHT AND U WON. Am deeply pained, can’t ever believed this happened, ABIODUN OMO ALEJA. A caring and helpful husband to my sister, my aunt’s best friend, a caring and lovely daddy to my Nephew & Nieces. I can’t believe that you are gone Uncle Biodun. Our God is unquestionable, nobody can question God. May your soul rest in peace till we meet and part no more. Adieu!!! ABIODUN OMO ALEJA”.
