The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has determined to be an hindrance to political activities, particularly the party primaries election in any part of the country until the strike is call-off

Comrade Victor Ezenagu, the Public Relations Officer of NANS, reaffirmed the national protests declared by the leadership of NANS a day before the interview of Com. Victor with Channels TV, on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, in Abuja.

Victor said the mass protest started that Tuesday in almost 11 states which Oyo and Ogun axis gave their words to join on Wednesday by blocking Lagos-Ibadan highway and other states will be joining the protest, until the strike is being call-off.

He said ASUU was on 3months strike and the federal government did nothing to end the strike and for this reason, the protest has started and all federal roads will be blocked, the airports will be shut down and they will not allow any political activities to take place in any part of the country.

He said the protest will continue “until universities reopened for students to resume classes.

“We have resolved that we have to take our destinies into our hands. The leadership of NANS has resolved that there will be no political activities, especially party primaries in Abuja and other parts of the country. The mass action is in all the 36 states of the Federation and FCT.

“You cannot be a hunting game when your house is on fire. What is government? Government is about responding to the needs of the people and their welfare. ASUU cannot be on strike for three months and nothing is being done by the government to end it.

“The mass protest actually started today (Tuesday) in almost eleven states. It started at the University of Lagos and others are joining. We will block all federal roads, shut down airports and indeed the economy of Nigeria until the universities are reopened for students to resume classes,” he said.
