Every married woman knows it’s not easy submitting to a man! in fact, I don’t envy you ladies sometimes, when the bible says submit to your own husbands, this is the way I picture it: you are like someone sitting in the passenger seat, (where you usually sit anyway) in the car, the man is the driver, and sometimes, sincerely speaking, you can see that he’s going to take you and the kids into the ditch, what are you supposed to do? Advise him isn’t it? Say “ah, honey, I don’t think we should go this way o”, if he listens, praise God, but sometimes he doesn’t.

So let’s assume he is not listening, what are you supposed to do? And he’s going to drive into a ditch, logically speaking, shouldn’t you wrestle the steering with him to turn it around? That’s the temptation isn’t it? Strong temptation to manipulation, strong temptation to nag him, and if he doesn’t agree, beat him emotionally or verbally.

That’s the temptation. Peter the apostle addressed that in first peter 3, teaching women to learn to put their absolute trust in God and not to be afraid with any terror. If you are a believer in God, switch over to the channel of the holy spirit.

What you see physically is one thing, what the holy spirit tells you is your reality. So if he’s driving towards the ditch, you go talk to the person who has control over him. If he tells you, you’re not going to end up in the ditch, you can relax and let him drive whichever way he wants to drive, God will get across to him.

I know it’s not easy, but it’s within the context of being filled with the spirit that the woman can submit to her husband as to the lord, not because of him, but because of God. Because some of us guys act like crackheads, sometimes ladies have to ask God “what are you asking me to submit to”? You have to be filled with the spirit to submit.

If you continue down to Ephesians 5 verse 25 where he says, husbands love your wives, sir, you have to be filled with the spirit to love your wife- the one who nagged you to sleep last night.

We have a prescription in the scriptures as Christians, we shouldn’t turn out like everyone else, let’s do it the bible way.

How do you get filled with the spirit? Pray.

Romans 8:26, likewise the spirit itself helps us with our weaknesses (infirmities) for we do not know what to pray for as we ought to, but the spirit itself help us with groanings which cannot be uttered in articulate speech.

Prayer! How do you deal with a negative emotion? Anger, fear, anxiety, Philippians 4:6 be anxious for nothing but in everything through prayer and supplications, with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. And what is the result? And the peace of god which passes all understanding shall keep your heart and mind.

You’ve moved from anxiety to peace, the key? Prayer!
