Tambuwal Lifts Curfew

The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has lifted the curfew imposed due to the protest of the youths for the release of suspected murders of Deborah Samuel.

Deborah Samuel was a christian and a 200level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education which was killed over alleged blasphemy.

It was reported that the suspected murders were released which led to a protest on Saturday in Sokoto State in which the governor declared a curfew in the State.

Gov. Tambuwal has lifted the curfew with immediate effect and banned all forms of processions in the state until further notice. This was revealed in a statement announced by the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Isa Bajini-Galadanchi, on Friday.

The statement reads in part, ” Acting on enabling powers under section 176 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, section 1, 2 and 4 of the Public Order Act and section 15 of Sokoto State Peace Preservation Law, Governor of Sokoto State, Rt Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR, Mutawallen Sokoto has after due consultations, lifted the curfew imposed on Sokoto metropolis with immediate effect .”
