Tragedy: Lagos Teenage Factory Worker Death In Industrial Accident On Resumption Day

A Seventeen-year-old boy Babatunde Abdulrahmon die due to the injuries he sustain on the day he resume to work as a mixer at a manufacturing company, Mingyi Trading Company Limited, Satellite Town, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The teenager, go to the company in search of work, was introduce to the manager, Uchenna Umeanna, who put him under a supervisor.

The supervisor, Babatunde and other members of staff were busy in the factory when a power outage suddenly take place

In a bid to continue production, suddenly a worker in the company was said to have switch on the generator, and as the mixing machine begin working,

Babatunde, who was near to it, was unfortunately suck into the mixer.

Umeanna the eye witness report that Abdulrahmon sustain several injuries in his body and legs, adding that efforts by doctors to save him at a nearby hospital proves abortive.

The manager said, “It was an unfortunate incident. Abdulrahmon came looking for a job and I personally took him to the supervisor to teach him the job. After some hours, I suddenly heard screams and I rush down to the factory.

Unfortunately when I get there, he was inside the mixer and we has to bring him out. What really happen is that the supervisor was teaching him how to scrape the particles of the PVC material on the mixing machine. he said

The supervisor, said that a power outage suddenly occurs and another worker switch on the generator, and Abdulrahmon, who was near to the mixing machine, suddenly he suck into it.

We quickly switches off the generator and pulls him out, but his legs were injures and when we rush him to hospital, they said he had internal injuries and was bleeding. he said

Umeanna reports the incident to the police, who detain him and two of the workers, adding that family members of the deceased were also informed about the accident.

He said, “The doctors were trying to resuscitate him and after about 20 minutes, we lost him. I informed the police about the incident and the matter was transfers to another station in Agboju, where two of the workers and I were detained.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, describs the circumstances surrounding Abdulrahmon’s death as sudden and unnatural.
