Tragedy: OAU 100L Female Student dies after falling into septic tank

Heritage Ajibola, a 100L Linguistics and African Language female student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has been pronounced dead after falling mistakenly into a septic tank.

This was disclosed today (09/02/2022) by Public Relations Officer of the union, Ogunperi Taofeek Olalekan-in an internal memorandum released by the Students Union Government of the institution.

According to a source, Heritage fell into the septic tank that was covered with planks at Bver hostel around a place called Maintenance today. It took several hours before rescue team could remove her from the septic tank but all efforts to safe her life proved abortive.

Some students of the Institution lamented that the hostel has been known for collecting a huge amount of money for hostel fees, yet they give little attention to hostel maintenance

Students said result of them not maintaining the hostel properly led to plank being used to cover a septic tank that now led to the death of Heritage.
